Company overview
The KION Group is one of the world’s leading suppliers of
industrial trucks, warehouse automation and supply chain
solutions. Headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, KION employs more
than 42,000 people across regions and subsidiaries around the
world.
The solution
Together with Genow, KION built a central, AI-powered knowledge
base that bundles internal sales documentation into a single,
reliable source of truth. It is hosted within
KION’s own cloud infrastructure, giving full control over
data, models and costs.
On this foundation, KION developed the GenAI-powered Sales
Assistant: an intelligent co-pilot that gives sales teams instant
access to relevant product information, upselling opportunities
and customer-specific sales arguments, in the shortest possible
time.
Implementation & results
The Genow-powered Sales Assistant turns raw technical data into
compelling, customer-ready messaging. It understands KION products
in depth and translates specifications into language that
resonates with the customer.
-
Sales representatives can quickly retrieve detailed, nuanced
product information, clearly structured by vehicle type, series
and model line, significantly reducing research and preparation
time.
-
Analytics and user feedback continuously surface data-quality
issues and context gaps, driving ongoing improvements in
accuracy and relevance.
-
Sales teams gain speed without sacrificing accuracy or
reliability.
A decisive differentiator is the combined knowledge approach:
internal data is linked with context information and controlled
web research to minimise hallucinations. The KION team has further
increased reliability
through analytics dashboards and direct user feedback. The system
precisely distinguishes complex product hierarchies and
deliberately gives no answer when no information is available.
Key benefits
- Reduced administrative effort: Less time spent
searching, more time for customer conversations.
- Speed with precision: Faster access to
knowledge while keeping answer quality consistently high.
- Always up to date: Every sales representative
works from the same current, reliable information.
- Upselling potential: Relevant product
alternatives and add-ons are suggested directly from existing
knowledge.
Multilingual impact
Initially piloted in the United Kingdom, adoption grew steadily
from the start. The system processes documents in English, German,
French and Italian, and generates answers in Czech, Polish and
many other languages. Since KION products are largely available
across the entire EMEA region, this multilingual capability
enables rapid market expansion and cross-border knowledge sharing
without additional operational effort.
Outlook
After the successful UK pilot, KION plans to roll the Sales
Assistant out across the entire ITS EMEA region and to introduce a
corresponding solution for STILL. A cross-functional team of IT,
business units and AI specialists continuously develops the
solution further, expands its feature set and selectively
integrates new generative AI models as requirements grow.
With Genow as the technological foundation, the Sales Assistant is
evolving into a long-term strategic asset for the KION
Group’s global sales.
